Wine reviews, tasting notes and education for the non-snob.
by Claire L. Torbeck, Certified Sommelier
I started this blog to bring common sense information to non-industry folks who find selecting a bottle of wine in the grocery or wine shop aisle very intimidating. I’m a Certified Sommelier providing wine and food pairings for group events and general wine education for the public. I’m passionate about cooking, trying new dishes and finding amazing wines for my cellar. I also judge wines around California at various competitions. Let’s journey together!

After 28 years of talking about taking wine classes I finally did it about a year and a half ago +/-. My first goal was to keep a year long wine diary and I succeeded! 138 wines later I have started writing about the experience and am getting ready to start on my WSET [The Wine & Spirit Education Trust] certification through a local university hospitality program. Salud!

I have been drinking and tasting wine over 30 years now. I will add notes of wines I am drinking today and add some memories of years gone by. I was born in England and moved to Germany in 1975 where I discovered WINE although hardly ever drank German wine until recently. My tastes are unlimited..across the Universe..so much good stuff around nowadays compared to when I first started out on this liquid journey! Marking is the 20 Points system.
